Phetchaburi, Thailand (Thai: สมุทรปราการ; English: Samut Prakan Province), also known as the "estuary city" (Paknam), the Thai Chinese, that is, the Thai phonetic translation of Paknam for Phetchaburi. Paknam used to be an important sea port of Thailand. Paknam is located in the center of Thailand, and the mouth of the Chao Phraya River is located in Paknam. The province covers an area of about 1,004.1 square kilometers, about 25 kilometers from the capital city of Bangkok. It is bounded by Bangkok in the north, the Gulf of Siam in the south, Phetchaburi in the east, and Bangkok and Long Chai Chor Province in the west. Most of the province is a low-lying area, and the local people mainly rely on fishing to make a living. There are a number of industrialized areas with large factories.
