Nongkhai (English: NongKhai; Thai: หนองคาย) is a province in Thailand, belonging to the Northeast region, with a population of 883,704 (2000), a land area of 7,332 square kilometers, and Nongkhai (Nongkhai), the capital city of Nongkhai. Nong Khai is surrounded by the low-lying plains of Zhihai in the north, jungles among the high mountains in the east, rolling hills stretching to Le Phu in the west, and highlands in the south. The climate of Nong Khai is characterized by three seasons, with the summer season being as hot as 41.8 degrees Celsius, the winter season being as cold as 5.2 degrees Celsius, and the rainy season being characterized by heavy rainfall. The fishing industry is well developed.
