Guizhou, abbreviated as Qian or Gui, is a provincial administrative region of the People's Republic of China, with Guiyang as its capital. It is bordered by Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality in the north, Hunan Province in the east, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south and Yunnan Province in the west. The terrain is high in the west and low in the east, tilting from the center to the north, east and south, known as "eight mountains and one water and one field", a subtropical monsoon climate. The province covers a total area of 176,200 square kilometers, with six prefecture-level cities and three autonomous prefectures. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Guizhou Province was 38.56 million.
Located in the hinterland of the southwestern inland region, Guizhou Province is the transportation hub of the southwestern region and an important part of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. It is the first national-level big data comprehensive pilot area, a world-renowned mountain tourism destination and mountain tourism province, a national ecological civilization pilot area, and an inland open economy pilot area. It is also one of the birthplaces of ancient Chinese people and one of the origins of ancient Chinese culture, with human beings inhabiting and reproducing on this land since 500,000 to 600,000 years ago.
In 2023, the gross regional product of Guizhou Province amounted to 20,913.25 billion yuan, calculated at constant prices, an increase of 4.9% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 289.428 billion yuan, an increase of 3.9%; the added value of the secondary industry was 731.144 billion yuan, an increase of 4.4%; and the added value of the tertiary industry was 1,070.753 billion yuan, an increase of 5.5%.
