Gansu Province, abbreviated as Gan or Long, is a provincial administrative region of the People's Republic of China, with Lanzhou as its capital. It is located in the northwest of China, with Shaanxi in the east, Xinjiang in the west, Sichuan and Qinghai in the south, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia in the north, and Mongolia in the northwest. It lies between latitude 32°11′-42°57′ north and longitude 92°13′-108°46′ east, with a total area of 425,800 square kilometers. As of June 2023, Gansu Province has 12 prefecture-level cities and 2 autonomous prefectures under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2023, Gansu Province had a resident population of 24.65 million.
The terrain of Gansu Province is long and narrow, with complex and varied landforms, including mountains, plateaus, plains, river valleys, deserts, and the Gobi, surrounded by mountains and high peaks, with the terrain sloping from southwest to northeast. Gansu is located in the Loess Plateau, the Tibetan Plateau and the Inner Mongolia Plateau, the convergence of three major plateaus, the climate type from south to north, including subtropical monsoon climate, temperate monsoon climate, temperate continental arid climate and plateau mountainous climate of four major types. Gansu's historical representative culture is "He Long Culture".
In 2023, Gansu Province will realize a GDP of 118.6380 billion yuan, of which 164.13 billion yuan will be added to the primary industry, 408.08 billion yuan to the secondary industry and 614.18 billion yuan to the tertiary industry.
