Jilin Province, abbreviated as "Ji", is a provincial-level administrative region of the People's Republic of China, with Changchun as its capital; located in the central part of Northeast China, it is connected to Liaoning Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Heilongjiang Province, and borders Russia and North Korea, and is situated in the geographic center of Northeast Asia; its topography is tilted from the southeast to the northwest, with high in the southeast and low in the northwest, and a temperate continental monsoon climate. Characterized by a temperate continental monsoon climate; as of the end of 2022, the province governed eight prefecture-level cities and one autonomous prefecture, with an area of 187,400 square kilometers.At the end of 2023, the resident population of Jilin Province was 23,394,100 people. As of the end of 2023, there were 607 townships in the province, including 426 townships, 153 townships, 28 ethnic townships, and 363 street offices.
Jilin Province has the advantage of being close to the sea along the border, and is one of the 9 border provinces in China. It is an important window for opening up the country to the north under the national "One Belt, One Road", and an important channel for foreign trade and exchanges for Jilin and even China. Jilin Province has the advantage of revitalization of old industrial bases, processing and manufacturing industries are more developed, automobile, petrochemical, food, equipment manufacturing, medicine and health for the five key industries, especially automobile, high-speed rail manufacturing in the country at the leading level; Jilin Province is an important national commodity grain production base, per capita grain possession, grain commodity rate, grain transfer and corn exports for many years in the country; Jilin Province is a national Jilin is a pilot province for ecological construction, and the Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve has been recognized by the United Nations as a Man and Biosphere Nature Reserve. In March 2022, the central government supported Jilin to create a pilot zone for the high-quality development of China's ice and snow economy.
In 2023, Jilin Province's gross regional product (GRP) amounted to 1353.119 billion yuan, up 6.3% year-on-year, higher than that of the whole country by 1.1 percentage points. By industry, the added value of the primary industry amounted to 164.475 billion yuan, an increase of 5.0%; the added value of the secondary industry amounted to 458.503 billion yuan, an increase of 5.9%; and the added value of the tertiary industry amounted to 730.140 billion yuan, an increase of 6.9%.
