Yasothon (also known as Yasothon; English: Yasothon; Thai: ยโสธร) is a province in the northeastern part of Thailand. Yasothon is an ancient city founded in 1797. In 1814, Rama II transferred the city to Bangkok. In 1900, the city was transferred to a district of Ubon province until March 1, 1972, when the Thai Revolutionary Corps ordered the city, along with several other districts, to be separated from Ubon province to form Yasothon province.
