On December 23rd, 2012, the Son La Hydropower Plant, the largest hydropower project in Southeast Asia, was officially completed and put into operation in Vietnam. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said at the completion ceremony that the completion and commissioning of the San Lo Hydropower Plant is an important milestone in the development of Vietnam's power sector. The completion of the construction of the San Lo Hydropower Plant three years ahead of schedule will bring great economic benefits to Vietnam.
