Quang Ninh Province (TỉnhQuảngNinh) is located in the northeastern part of Vietnam, on the border between China and Vietnam, bordering the North Bay in the east and Fangchenggang City in Guangxi Province of China, with a 200-kilometer-long coastline, covering an area of 61,023 square kilometers, with a population of about 1,177,200 people, and jurisdiction over four cities, such as Ha Long, Mang Cai, Woong My, and Kam Phuoc, as well as eight municipalities and districts, such as Dong Hoa, Anh Hinh, and Xianan, among others. The inhabitants are the Kinh, Dai, Han and Yao ethnic groups.
There are mountains and seas within the territory, and the climate is diverse, generally belonging to the tropical monsoon climate regulated by the ocean, with four distinct seasons, hot and humid summers and warm winters.
After the August Revolution in 1945, Quang An and Hai Ninh provinces merged to form Quang Ninh Province.
