Formerly known as Taiping Village Town, Taiping Town was renamed in September 1998 with the approval of the Tianjin Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau. Taiping Town is located in the southernmost part of Tianjin, situated in the alluvial plain of North China and the hinterland of Dagang Oilfield, neighboring Huanghua City of Hebei Province in the south, connecting with Gangxi Street of this district in the east, bordering on Dagang Reservoir in the north, and leaning on Xiaowangzhuang Town of this district in the west. The town has a land area of 174.7 square kilometers, with 49 square kilometers of arable land. Under the jurisdiction of 22 natural villages, 19 administrative villages, the total population of 33,999 people, the agricultural population of 31,635 people, accounting for one-third of the agricultural population of the district. In addition to the Han Chinese, there are five ethnic minorities in the town: Hui, Mongolian, Manchu, Korean and Li. A mosque has been built in Vision 2 Village, providing a place for religious activities for those who believe in Islam.
