Jinkong Town is located in the southeast of Yanting County, east and Rayon Town, Xichong County, Renhe Town, adjacent to the south and Rayon Town, the south and Rayon Town junction, the west and high light town connected to the north and Xichong County, Minglong Town, Qinglizhen bordering the former Jinkong District District Office is located 42 kilometers away from the county seat, covering an area of 57.72 square kilometers, the county highway, Daren Road, West Yulong Road runs through the whole territory. The town has 18 administrative villages, 3 communities, 215 villager groups, 11 resident groups, and a total population of 17,843 (2017). On December 25, 2019, the People's Government of Sichuan Province on agreeing to the approval of Mianyang City to adjust the administrative division of some townships and townships (Chuanfu Civil Affairs 〔2019〕 No. 27): the abolition of Washizhe Township and Zonghai Township, and the transfer of the administrative areas under them to the jurisdiction of Jinkong Township.
