Mianyang City, abbreviated as "Mian", also known as Mianzhou, Fulcheng, prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Province, the provincial sub-center city, Ⅱ large cities, third-tier cities. Located in the northwest of the Sichuan Basin, the upper and middle reaches of the Fuling River. East of Guangyuan City and Nanchong City, south of Suining City, west of Deyang City, northwest of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, Longnan City border. It lies between latitude 30°42′-33°03′ north and longitude 103°45′-105°43′ east, with a total area of 20,200 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Mianyang City has three districts, five counties, one county-level city under its jurisdiction, and the Sichuan government's Science City Office. As of the end of 2022, Mianyang had a resident population of 4,898,800 people.
Mianyang has a history of more than 2,200 years of city building, and has always been the county seat for the state, and then because the city site is located in the south of the Mianshan Mountain and named "Mianyang". There are stone tools and pottery from the Neolithic Age unearthed 4,500 years ago; it is the birthplace of Li Bai, the poet, and Ouyang Xiu, one of the Eight Great Poets of the Tang and Song Dynasties; the hometown of Rayon, the mother of the Yellow Emperor's First Consort of Silk; and the birthplace of Dayu, the founder of the Xia Dynasty. It is known as "the hometown of Fule and the Silicon Valley in the west", and is the only science and technology city in China approved by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, an important base for national defense, military industry and scientific research and production, the second largest economy in Sichuan, and the regional center of the Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration. Mianyang has 18 national research institutes, including China Academy of Engineering Physics, China Aerodynamic Research and Development Center, Sichuan Gas Turbine Research Institute of China Aerospace Development.
In 2023, Mianyang city will realize a gross domestic product (GDP) of 403.873 billion yuan, with an added value of 39.319 billion yuan in the primary industry, 159.905 billion yuan in the secondary industry and 204.649 billion yuan in the tertiary industry.
