Santai County, belonging to Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, is located in the north central part of Sichuan Basin, southeast of Mianyang City, between latitude 30°42′34″~31°26′35″ north and longitude 104°43′04″~105°18′13″ east, with subtropical monsoon humid climate, abundant precipitation, and distinct seasons, with a total area of 2,659.38 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Santai County had a resident population of 944,900.In June 2023, Santai County had 31 towns and 2 townships under its jurisdiction, and the county people's government was stationed at No. 95, Zizhou Trunk Road, Beiba Town.
Santai County is named "Santai" because of the Santai Mountain in the west of the city. It originated from the Western Han Dynasty, Sui and Tang Dynasty, Zizhou County, Song and Yuan Dynasty, Tongchuan Prefecture, Ming Dynasty, Tongchuan Prefecture, and Qing Dynasty, Santai County, with a history of more than 2,200 years. 1950, the establishment of Santai County. 1985 February, the abolition of the Mianyang area, the establishment of the Mianyang City, Santai County is under the jurisdiction of the city of Mianyang.
During the Tang Dynasty, Santai County was famous with Chengdu, and was the seat of Jiannan Dongchuan Jieduzhu, which was the transportation hub and prosperous capital of Sichuan, and was known as "the important town of northern Sichuan and the famous capital of Jiannan". It has five national key cultural relics protection units, such as the Cliff Tomb Group and Yuntai Guan, the National Historical and Cultural Town of River Plate, the national 3A scenic spot Tongchuan Ancient City, as well as many scenic spots, such as the Dufu Caodang and the Luban Lake, making it a famous historical and cultural city of Sichuan Province.
In 2022, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Santai County will be 47.921 billion yuan, an increase of 5.3% over the previous year at comparable prices, of which the added value of the primary industry will be 10.206 billion yuan, an increase of 4.3%; the added value of the secondary industry will be 15.868 billion yuan, an increase of 7.1%; and the added value of the tertiary industry will be 21.847 billion yuan, an increase of 4.6%. The structural ratio of the three industries is 21.3:33.1:45.6.
