Pingfang Township, a township (district) under the jurisdiction of Chaoyang District, Beijing, is located in the central part of Chaoyang District, between longitude 116°30′12″~116°34′25″E and latitude 39°54′56″~39°57′12″N. It is bordered by Changying Hui Township in the east and Gaobeidian Township in the south by Chaoyang Road. It is bordered by Changying Hui Township in the east, Gaobeidian Township and Sanmafang Township in the south by Chaoyang Road, Bali Zhuang Street, Liulitun Street and Dongfeng Township in the west by Jingbao Railway, and Dongba Township in the north. The maximum distance between the east and west of the area is 6.1 kilometers, and the maximum distance between the north and south is 4.8 kilometers, with a total area of 15.2 square kilometers.
In 1950, Pingfang area belonged to Dongsuburb District, and Pingfang Administrative Village was established, with the jurisdiction of 3 natural villages, namely, Pingfang, Liangmachang, and Baijialou. 1952, Pingfang Administrative Village was changed to Pingfang Township. 1956, Shigezhuang was transferred from Tongxian County to Dongsuburb District, and merged with Yaojiajia village, Pingfang village, and 4 natural villages, namely, Huangsugimudian to form Pingfang Senior Commune. 1958, Pingfang Commune belonged to Chaoyang People's Commune. 1961, in April. In April 1961, Pingfang People's Commune was established; in 1983, Pingfang Commune was changed to a township; in February 2003, Pingfang District Office was set up, which is "one set of people, two brands" with Pingfang Township.
As of June 2020, there are 13 communities and 4 administrative villages under the jurisdiction of Pingfang Township. 2011, the total population of Pingfang Township is 143,700 people. 2011, the total market transaction amounted to 2.2 billion yuan, 46.2% less than the previous year. The finance accomplished sales tax of 120 million yuan, value-added tax of 0.02 billion yuan, enterprise income tax of 0.05 billion yuan, and personal income tax of 0.03 billion yuan in the jurisdiction, which increased by 11.1%, 38.8%, -38.3%, and 16.7%, respectively, compared with the previous year.
