Sunhe Township, a township under the jurisdiction of Chaoyang District, Beijing, is located in the northeastern border of Chaoyang District, between longitude 116°26′25″~116°34′35″E and latitude 40°00′55″~40°05′20″N. It is bordered by Tianzhu Township of Shunyi District on the east by the Wenyu River, Cuiguozhuang Township and Jinzhan Township on the south, and by Changping District on the west across the Xiaoqing River, and Laiguangying Township, and by the Tianzhu Airport Industrial Zone of Shunyi District on the north along the Wenyu River. The area is connected with Shunyi along the Wenyu River in the north and Tianzhu Airport Industrial Zone in the south. The maximum distance between the east and west of the district is 9.3 kilometers, and the maximum distance between the north and south is 5.3 kilometers, with a total area of 35.2 square kilometers.
During the Republic of China period, the area around Sunhe belonged to Daxing County of Hebei Province; after the liberation, it successively belonged to Pingbei Special Department of Hebei Province, Beijing 14th District, 9th District, 13th District, and Changping County of Hebei Province; in 1956, it was reorganized to the East Suburban District of Beijing; in 1998, it belonged to the Heping Rural Office of Chaoyang District; and in 1999, it was established as Sunhe Township. As of June 2020, Sunhe Township has 6 communities and 13 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.
As of the end of 2019, Sunhe Township had a household population of 21,975, 17 industrial enterprises, including 5 industrial enterprises above scale, and 26 general stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
