Makeng Township, belonging to Zhouning County, Ningde City, Fujian Province, is located in the southeastern part of Zhouning County, adjacent to Chixi Township, Jiaocheng District, in the southeast, connected to Xiancun Township and Qibu Township in the southwest and northwest, respectively, and bordering on Kangcuo Township and Xitan Township in Fuan City in the northeast. The total area of the jurisdiction is 74.81 square kilometers.At the end of 2018, Makeng Township had a household population of 13,086. Makeng Township was originally started by the Ma Clan and called Maxi. It was later renamed Makeng because the Ma Clan moved to other places and the Tang Clan moved in, and was renamed Makeng in order to show the difference.In August 1961, Makeng Commune was split from Hamchon Commune, and in March 1963, it was merged into Hamchon District again.In 1966, it was re-established as Makeng Commune, and in 1984, it was abolished to establish a township, and was set up as Makeng Township. As of June 2020, Makeng Township has 15 administrative villages under its jurisdiction. In 2018, Makeng Township has 45 industrial enterprises, including 1 above scale, and 5 general stores or supermarkets with business area over 50 square meters.
