The Xiamen Torch High-Tech Industrial Development Zone was jointly established by the State Science and Technology Commission and the Xiamen Municipal People’s Government in December 1990. In March 1991, it was approved by the State Council as one of the first batch of national-level high-tech zones and is one of only three national-level high-tech zones in the country named after the “Torch.”
Since its establishment, the Xiamen Torch High-Tech Industrial Development Zone has upheld the banner of “developing high technology and achieving industrialization.” Based on original innovation, integrated innovation, and the introduction, digestion, absorption, and re-innovation of technologies, it has strived to commercialize, industrialize, and internationalize scientific and technological achievements, achieving high-quality and rapid development.It has achieved outstanding results in developing leading industries, building innovation and entrepreneurship platforms, attracting high-end innovative talent, and establishing an innovation policy system. It has created a miracle of intensive and leapfrog development in the park’s economy, becoming the first development zone in Fujian Province to exceed 100 billion yuan in annual output value, and plays a leading role in the construction of Xiamen and the West Coast Economic Zone.
Xiamen Torch High-Tech Zone implements a “one zone, multiple parks” development strategy and is home to more than 10 national-level industrial development and incubation platforms, including the first batch of National High-Tech Product Export Bases, the National Optoelectronic Display Industry Cluster Pilot Unit (Base),a National Demonstration Base for New Industrialization, a National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas High-Level Talents, a National Base for Science and Technology Cooperation and Exchange with Taiwan, and a National Demonstration Institution for Technology Transfer. It has become a “star-making factory” for high-tech enterprises, truly achieving seamless integration and coordinated collaboration across the entire chain of scientific research, development, technology commercialization, and market integration.
