East to the west wall of the Forbidden City, the west edge of Zhongshan Park, Tian'anmen Square, the west side of the road west curbstone as the boundary with the Dongcheng District, Donghuamen Street, south of the front of West Main Street, Xuanwumen East Street centerline as the boundary with the Dajiejie Street, Tsubaki Street, west of Xisi South Street, Xidan North Street, Xuanwumen Nei Street west side of the road as the boundary with the Financial Street Street, north of the Xi'anmen Street, the south of the Wenzin Street curbstone, the Forbidden City, north of the tube River Center line as the boundary with the Shichahai Street. The maximum distance between the east and west of the district is 2 kilometers, and the maximum distance between the north and south is 2.6 kilometers, with a total area of 4.2 square kilometers. During the Qing Dynasty, the West Chang'an Street area belonged to the Red Banner and Blue Banner. During the Republic of China period, it was part of Nei 2, Nei 4, Nei 6 and Nei 7 districts, and after 1949, it was part of Nei 2 and Nei 5 districts, and in 1952, it was assigned to Xidan district, and in 1954, it was built into 8 streets, namely, Dongwenchangge, Dasiyeongjing, Xi'anfukutong, Weiyinghutong, Heng Erjie, Xidan Beidajie, Nancangjie and Shixianji, in 1958, it was part of Xicheng district, and in August, it was merged into Xicang'an Street, and in April 1960, it was assigned to West Chang'an Street, and in April 1960, it was assigned to West Chang'an Street. In April 1960, the West Chang'an Street People's Commune was established, and in April 1962, the street was restored. As of June 2020, there are 13 neighborhoods under the jurisdiction of Xichang'an Street. 2011, the total population of Xichang'an Street was 74,500 people, the total industrial output value was 45.03 billion yuan, and the total financial revenue was 5.27 billion yuan.
