During the Liao and Jin dynasties, Dazhalan area was located in the area of Haiwang Village, Yanxia Township, the capital city. During the Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Wanping County. During the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Zhengxi Fang. During the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to part of the Central City and North City. During the Republic of China period, it belonged to the outer two districts. after 1949, it belonged to the ninth and sixth districts. in 1952, it belonged to the Qianmen District. in 1958, it was assigned to Xuanwu District. in 2010, it was assigned to Xicheng District.
