Xia Dang Township, belonging to Shouning County, Ningde City, Fujian Province, is located in the western part of Shouning County, the junction zone of the two provinces and three counties, bordering TuoXi Township and QinYang Township in the east, PingXi Township in the south, ChengYuan Township in the west, LongXi Township in the northwest, QingYuan County in Zhejiang Province, and connected with TuoXi Township in the north. The total area is 64.97 square kilometers.At the end of 2018, Xia Dang Township had a household population of 7,084. Xiandang Township was formerly known as Dangchuan, named after the stream flowing endlessly. The village of Xiandang was named because the terrain was lower than that of Shangdang Village, and because the township government was stationed in Xiandang Village.At noon on July 19, 1989, Comrade Xi Jinping, then secretary of the Ningde Prefectural Party Committee in Fujian Province, went to Xiandang Township to conduct on-site research.On July 26, 1989, and on August 7, 1996, Comrade Xi Jinping went to Xiandang on two separate occasions, to coordinate and solve the problems of construction and development in Xiandang.On August 4, 2019, General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a letter to the Xiapang Township a letter, congratulating Xiapang Township for lifting itself out of poverty.In his New Year's greeting on December 31, 2019, General Secretary Xi Jinping once again mentioned Xiapang Township. As of June 2020, Xiapang Township has a total of 10 administrative villages under the jurisdiction of Xiapang, Shangdang, Xishan, Caokeng, Xiapingfeng, Geelang, Yangxitou, Beikeng, Beikengshan, and Ganghou. In 2018, Xiapang Township has 5 industrial enterprises, including 1 above scale, and 2 general stores or supermarkets with business area over 50 square meters.
