Shuwan Town, belonging to Dazu District of Chongqing Municipality, is located in the eastern part of Dazu District, on the banks of Huaiyuan River, under Bayue Mountain, adjacent to Xihe Town of Tongliang District in the east, connected with Yulong Town in the south, neighboring with Shima Town and Jingshan Town in the west, and relying on Wangu Town in the north, 23 kilometers away from the seat of the People's Government of Dazu District, with a total area of 44.68 square kilometers.
In the first year of Xuantong of Qing Dynasty (1909), there was Gewan Township around Gewan Township; on November 16, 1993, Gewan Township was merged by Gewan Township and Xiehe Township to form Gewan Township.
