Daxing District, subordinate to Beijing Municipality, is located in the southern suburbs of Beijing Municipality, in the northeastern part of the North China Plain, connected with Fengtai and Chaoyang Districts in the north, separated from Yongding River in the west and Fangshan District in the west, adjoined with Tongzhou District in the east and bordered with Langfang and Zhuozhou Municipalities in Hebei Province in the south and southwest. It has a total area of 1036.33 square kilometers. As of 2022, Daxing District had a resident population of 1.816 million. As of June 2023, Daxing District has 8 streets and 14 towns under its jurisdiction. The district government is located in Xingfeng Street;
The earliest predecessor of Daxing District was the ancient Jixian County, built by the state of Yan during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. In the second year of Jin Zhengyuan (1154), the name of the county was changed to Daxing County. 2001, Daxing County was abolished and Daxing District was established. Daxing District is a national comprehensive pilot area for new urbanization, a national agricultural product quality safety county, one of the first satellite cities of the capital approved by the State Council in 1984, and part of the Daxing Airport Area of China (Hebei) Pilot Free Trade Zone;
In 2022, the gross regional product of Daxing District will be 109.19 billion yuan, a decrease of 28.0% compared with the previous year, of which the added value of the primary industry will be 1.53 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry will be 38.03 billion yuan; the added value of the tertiary industry will be 69.63 billion yuan, and the composition of the three industries will be 1.4:34.8:63.8.
