Naiman, is the Mongolian language, the ancient "Nai Ban", for the meaning of the Chinese number word "eight", evolved from the ancient tribal name of the Mongolian people. Republic of China thirty-eight years (1949) in April, by the Liaobei Province into the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; in April 1954, the reattachment to the Zherimu League; in July 1969, into the Jilin Province; in July 1979, rejoined the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; in January 1999, the Zherimu League withdrew from the League to set up a city, the Naiman Banner is subordinate to the jurisdiction of the city of Tongliao.
