Appletang Town, belonging to Luoding City, Yunfu City, Guangdong Province, is located in the east of Luoding City, 25 kilometers away from the urban area, neighboring Jinji Town in the east, Huashi Town in the south, Weidi Town in the west, and bordering Zhen'an and Baishi Towns in Yun'an District and Hekou Town in Yunan County in the north. The town has a total area of 88.4 square kilometers (2017), with 11 villages and 1 community under its jurisdiction.The total household population at the end of 2019 was 45,189. According to the seventh census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Appletang Township was 28,156 people.
Appletang Town belonged to the land of Takishui County from the sixth year of Kaibao in the Song Dynasty (973) to the fourth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1576). In the early years of the Republic of China, it belonged to the sixth district of Luoding; in 1955, it was set up as Appletang District; in October 1958, it was established as Appletang Commune; in 1983, it was set up as a district; in 1986, it was set up as a town. National Highway G324 and Chunluo Railway run through the whole territory of Appletang Town. The total length of the highway in the town is 55 kilometers, and the county road X874 Heping Line connects to Nanjiang Port.
With its unique karst landscape, Appletang is the only historical and cultural town in the city that has a combination of hills, basins and karst landscapes. The Longkanyan Cliff Carving located in Talley Village has been listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit. Appletang Township has won the "China's Beautiful Fields", "China's Beautiful Leisure Countryside", "National One Village One Product Demonstration Village and Township", "Guangdong Provincial Technical Innovation Rice Specialized Town of Guangdong Province", "Model Town of Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism of Guangdong Province" and so on.
