Luoding City, ancient name of Takizhou, Takishui, county-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, administered by Yunfu City, is located in the western part of Guangdong Province, south of the Xijiang River, which is one of the most convenient passages to communicate between Guangdong and the Great Southwest China, and is situated at the intersection of three national economic zones, namely, Pearl River - Xijiang Economic Belt, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Beibu Gulf City Cluster. The city has a total area of 2,327.5 square kilometers. As of 2021, Luoding City has 17 towns, 4 streets and 1 farm under its jurisdiction. The municipal people's government is stationed in Luocheng Street.At the end of 2022, the resident population of Luoding City was 943,300 people.
Luoding has a vast plain landscape and a unique basin climate, and the Luoding Basin is the largest basin in Guangdong. Historically, Luoding was an important node of the ancient Silk Road and the transportation hub of the Xijiang Corridor, which was known as "the great defense of the gate and the important place of appeasement". During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1577), due to the pacification of the "Yao Rebellion" in the Luobian area, Takishui County of Zhaoqing Prefecture was upgraded to Luoding Prefecture, which became the first directly-affiliated prefectural state in the history of Lingnan. Luoding has developed a multicultural character of openness, compatibility, pioneering, adventurous, enterprising and innovative.
Luoding is one of the first batch of historical and cultural cities in Guangdong Province, a pilot of financial reform in Guangdong Province directly supervising counties, and a hub and gateway of "East Integration and West Connection". 2018, the first rural revitalization training institute in Guangdong settled in Luoding. The Luoding Industrial Transfer Industrial Park has been identified as a provincial industrial agglomeration development zone.In 2022, Luoding realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of 31.919 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.8%.
