Jiayi Town, belonging to Luoding City, Yunfu City, Guangdong Province, is located in the western part of Luoding City, situated in the Yunkai Great Mountain Range, surrounded by mountains on all sides, and bordering Cenxi City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to the northwest. The town has a total area of 81.6 square kilometers, with 9 villages and 1 community under its jurisdiction.The total household population at the end of 2019 was 29,119. The resident population is 16,400 (2020 seventh population census data).
From the fifth year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1577) to the end of the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Zhennandu, Xining County. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Xining County was renamed Yunan County and was the twelfth district of Yunan; in 1950, it was changed to the seventh district of Yunan County; in January 1957, it was transferred to the jurisdiction of Luoding County; in 1986, it was founded as a town.
Gayi is the ancient Yao tribe living place, in the river on the sand to build the village house, the name gravel. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, a polder was formed, named Sha Lei Polder, and later changed to Ga Yi. Gayi polder is the economic and cultural center of Gayi town, the seat of the town's people's government, 53 kilometers away from the street of Luocheng.The total area of the polder at the end of 2017 was 2.2 square kilometers. There are minorities in the town, mainly Zhuang, Miao, Yao, Yi, etc. In 1995, Jiayi Town was designated as the old revolutionary area town in Guangdong Province.
In 2017, the town realized a gross industrial and agricultural product of 324.43 million yuan and a total retail sales of consumer goods of 41.45 million yuan.
