Yanqing District, under the Beijing Municipality, is located in the northwestern part of Beijing; Huairou District in the east, Changping District in the south, Huailai County in the west and Chicheng County in the north, the city is 74 kilometers away from Deshengmen in Beijing. Between longitude 115 ° 44 '~ 116 ° 34', latitude 40 ° 16 '~ 40 ° 47', the average altitude of 500 meters above sea level, the climate is unique, cold in winter and cool in summer, known as Beijing's "summer capital". Yanqing District covers an area of 1994.88 square kilometers.In 2019, it had jurisdiction over 3 streets, 11 towns, and 4 townships; by the end of 2022, Yanqing District had a resident population of 344,000 people.
In September 2013, Beijing Yanqing Geopark was selected as a member of the UNESCO World Geoparks Network and was awarded the title of "China Yanqing World Geopark". Yanqing is one of the third batch of national comprehensive pilot areas for new urbanization, a national pilot city for intellectual property rights, a national sanitary city (district), and one of the third batch of national agricultural product quality safety counties.On May 6, 2019, the first Beijing Peony Cultural Festival was opened in Yanqing, which will be held from now until May 30th. Yanqing has developed into the largest area of peony industry in Beijing, with a planting area of 1,800 mu and a collection of more than 1,800 varieties of peonies planted. Since August 1, 2021, fireworks and firecrackers have been prohibited in the administrative area of Yanqing District, and fireworks and firecrackers sales outlets will no longer be set up.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Yanqing District was 210,255,300 Yuan, which was 3.7% higher than that of 2021 at constant prices.
