Yuen Long is the most northwesterly located of the 18 districts of Hong Kong, China, situated in the northwest of the New Territories, surrounded by mountains on three sides and with a flat terrain. Originally a plain with rolling farmland, Yuen Long is the only flat and expansive plain in mountainous Hong Kong, and together with another district, North District, covers the entire land border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Yuen Long is full of nature, with the largest number of residential buildings in Tin Shui Wai and Yuen Long town center, while the rest of the area has many walled villages and bungalows. Fairview Park and California Garden are two large private housing estates made up of bungalows, with the size of a small town. As there are many natural areas in Yuen Long, green hills and trees can be seen all around, with the Mai Po Reserve and Lau Fau Shan being the most familiar ones. As for the more densely populated town center and Tin Shui Wai, there are also the Yuen Long Town Park and Tin Shui Wai Park, which are wide and spacious respectively. There is also a Yuen Long Public Swimming Pool at the back.
