Kwun Tong was once a strategic economic and military location. The area around the foothills of Kwun Tong, including Kowloon Bay, was originally a salt field, and the production of salt and the levy of taxes on salt producers became a source of revenue for the government at that time. The original name of Kwun Tong was "Kwun Tong", which literally means a pond owned by the government. It has a population of about 580,000 people. It is located on the eastern side of the Kowloon Peninsula, stretching from Lei Yue Mun in the south to the south ridge of Fei Ngo Shan in the east.
Kwun Tong is a small metropolis where industrial, commercial and residential developments are taking place at the same time, but the old villages in the district, such as Lei Yue Mun, have retained their long history of cultural color. A number of community development projects have been implemented in the district, including the construction of new facilities such as schools, clinics and community centers to cope with the rapid population growth. These facilities have given Kwun Tong a new look and created a comfortable living environment for its residents.
