Xinhe Town is located in the central part of Chongming Island, bordering the Yangtze River in the south, and is an important industrial port town in Chongnan Sub-district of Chongming Island Regional Planning. East-west width of 6.9 kilometers, north-south length of 8.3 kilometers, the town has a total area of 57.25 square kilometers, arable land area of 43,400 acres. The town has 17 villages and 5 neighborhood committees under its jurisdiction, with a total population of 46,000 people, of which 32,000 are agricultural population and 14,000 are non-agricultural population. External transportation is convenient. 17 kilometers west of the county, 13 kilometers east to Fort Town, about 30 kilometers from the Yangtze River Tunnel Bridge, the island's main traffic artery Chen Hai Highway through the town, the Shanghai Passenger Lines Company, the new river car passenger ferry station and Shanghai Wusong Port, Shidongkou Terminal connected to Chongming International Container Terminal for the export of goods for the enterprise to host a door-to-door service.
