Hengsha Township is subordinate to Chongming County of Shanghai, located in the mouth of the Yangtze River in the southeastern part of Chongming County, adjacent to Changxing Island in the west, Chongming Island in the north, and Pudong New Area in the southwest, with its center located at latitude of 31°20′33″ north and longitude of 121°50′15″ east. South and Shanghai Pudong border, north and Chongming across the river, west and Changxing Island adjacent to the East China Sea, east and west width of 9.81 kilometers, north and south length of 10.39 kilometers, a total area of 51.74 square kilometers. As of 2008, the township governs 24 administrative villages and 1 community, with a household population of 33,000 and a resident population of nearly 30,000 in the township.In 2013, the township realized a total tax revenue of 648 million yuan, of which 393 million yuan was local tax, and the completed local tax was increased by 10.2% compared with that of 2012.The township has a total tax revenue of 1.5 billion yuan, of which 1.2 billion yuan was local tax.
