Ningyang County, belonging to Tai'an City, Shandong Province, is located in the west of central Shandong Province, south of Tai'an City, neighboring Xintai City in the east, Wenshang County in the west, bordering Yanzhou District in Jining City in the south, bordering Qufu City and Sishui County in Jining City in the southeast, and bordering Daiyue District and Feicheng City in the north by the Da Wen River. It lies between 116°36'-117°18' east longitude and 35°40'-35°57' north latitude, with a total area of 1,125 square kilometers. Ningyang County has a long history. During the Western Han Dynasty, Han Gaozu set up the county in the south of Ningshan Mountain (south of present-day Fushan Village), which was named Ningyang because the south of the mountain is Yang.
