Hedong Town, belonging to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Baotou City, Donghe District, is located in the eastern part of Donghe District, east of Baotou Bus Factory and Dongxing Street, south of the Yellow River and Dalate Banner across the river, west of Jiuyuan District, north of the Dazhongshan. The area is 34.98 square kilometers.In 2018, the household population of 24,865 people.
In 1958, Hedong Commune was established, belonging to the suburb of Baotou City (now Jiuyuan District).In February 1984, the commune was changed to a township.In 1998, it was transferred to Donghe District from the former suburb (now Jiuyuan District).On December 30, 2004, Hedong Township was changed to a town.In June 2020, Hedong Township had 2 communities and 26 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.
