Donghe District, belonging to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Baotou City, is located in the southeast of Baotou City, east of the border with the right banner of Tumet, west of the Jiuyuan District adjacent to the south of the Yellow River with the Ordos Dalat Banner across the Yellow River, north of Shikian District, with a total area of 470 square kilometers. The climate of Donghe District is temperate continental semi-arid monsoon climate, with cold winter and hot summer, and four distinct seasons. As of September 2023, the total population of Donghe District was 488,000 people. As of September 2023, Donghe District has 12 streets, 2 towns, and 1 township-level unit under its jurisdiction, with the district government stationed at No. 59, Bayantala East Street, Hedong Street.
In August 1956, Baotou Donghe District was established; in 1960, the establishment of Donghe District People's Commune; in early 1963, stop "Donghe District People's Commune" title, cut the establishment of sub-communities, the original four sub-communities into seven communes; in 1998, the town of Hedong by the original suburb of Donghe District; in 2008, will be the Jiuyuan District, the town of Shaerqin Jiuyuan District Shalqin Town was transferred to Donghe's jurisdiction in 2008.
As of September 2023, the gross output value of Donghe District completed 40.17 billion yuan; fixed asset investment completed 7 billion yuan; total retail sales of consumer goods completed 18.3 billion yuan; general public budget revenue completed 1.039 billion yuan; urban and rural residents per capita disposable income of 52,550 yuan, 30,690 yuan respectively.
