Caoyan Town, belonging to Dafeng District, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the southwest of Dafeng District, bordering Wanying Town in the east, Dongtai Town, Dongtai City in the south, across the river, adjoining Daiyao and Hecheng 2 towns of Xinghua City in the west, bordering Baijiao and Xiaohai 2 towns in the north, and 40 kilometers away from the People's Government of Dafeng District, with a total regional area of 95.89 square kilometers. As of the end of 2019, Caoyan Town has a household population of 37,562. During the Tang Dynasty, it was the Yancheng Supervision South 8 Tour and Zhuxi 2 Field; in 1987, it was changed from Caoyan Township to Caoyan Town.
