Dafeng District, belonging to Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the east of Jiangsu Province, southeast of Yancheng City, bordering with Tinghu District of Yancheng City in the north, Dongtai City in the south, Xinghua City in the west, and bordering the Yellow Sea in the east, with a total area of 3,059 square kilometers. As of March 2022, Dafeng District has a resident population of 645,600 people. As of March 2022, Dafeng District has 2 streets, 11 towns, 2 provincial-level development zones under its jurisdiction, 3 farms belonging to Jiangsu Province and 1 farm belonging to Shanghai Municipality.
The name "Dafeng" originates from the fact that there are two towns, Dazhong and Xinfeng, each of which was named after a character. In 1942, Taipei County was established; in 1951, Taipei County was changed to Dafeng County; in 1996, Dafeng County was abolished and Dafeng City was established; in 2015, Dafeng City was abolished at county level and Dafeng District was established in Yancheng City.
In 2021, the gross regional product of Dafeng District was 75.921 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 6.6% at comparable prices, and a two-year average growth of 5.3%, which was better than the growth level of 5.1% in 2019. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 11.106 billion yuan, up 3.4%; the added value of the secondary industry was 25.321 billion yuan, up 6.4%; and the added value of the tertiary industry was 39.494 billion yuan, up 7.0%. The structural ratio of the three industries is 14.6:33.4:52.0.
