Yongchuan District is a municipal district of Chongqing. Located on the north bank of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the western part of Chongqing, because of the three rivers confluence Bi shape like the seal script "Yong" character, the mountain type like the "Chuan" character and so named, 55 kilometers east from the center of Chongqing, 276 kilometers from Chengdu in the west, is the Chengdu-Chongqing region, the hub of the Twin Cities Economic Circle node, the main city of Chongqing Strategic pivot of the metropolitan area of Chongqing. The district covers an area of 1,576 square kilometers, with 7 streets and 16 towns under its jurisdiction, and a resident population of 1.149 million. Yongchuan District was established as a county in 776 AD, a city in 1992 and a district in 2006. The center of the city is accelerating from "double eighty" to "double hundred".
