Qijiang District, belongs to Chongqing Municipality. It is adjacent to Nanchuan District in the east, Jiangjin District in the west, Xishui County and Tongzi County in Guizhou Province in the south, and Banan District in the north, with a total area of 2,748.27 square kilometers.In 2022, Qijiang District had a household population of 906,700. As of October 2022, Qijiang District has 7 streets and 24 towns under its jurisdiction. Among them, Wansheng Economic and Technological Development Zone administers Wansheng Street, Donglin Street, Wandong Town, Nantong Town, Youth Town, Guanba Town, Jungle Town, Jinqiao Town, Shilin Town, and Heishan Town. Qijiang District People's Government is stationed at No.1 Zhongshan Road, Gunan Street.
The name "Qijiang" comes from "Ancient Qicheng", the name of the river is "Qijiang" and the name of the district is "Qijiang District". The district was named "Qijiang District" after the river. In the Tang Dynasty, Longyang County was established. In 1952, Qijiang County was transferred to Chongqing Municipality, and in 2011, Wansheng District and Qijiang County were abolished and Qijiang District of Chongqing was established. It is a satellite city of the main city of Chongqing municipality, a regional center city and a strategic pivot of Chongqing-Guizhou cooperation, a food processing base of Chongqing, an important undertaking of the gradient transfer of processing trade in Chongqing, and a material node area of Chongqing-South-Guizhou-North.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Qijiang District will be 77.079 billion yuan, an increase of 3.0% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of primary industry is 8.366 billion yuan, and the added value of secondary industry is 34.875 billion yuan. The added value of the tertiary industry was 33.838 billion yuan, an increase of 1.3%.In October 2023, it was selected as the 2023 Chongqing Business Environment Benchmark City.
