Shanghe Township is located in the southeastern corner of Tongnan County, neighboring Zitong, Longshaped and Beikou in Tongnan and Longfeng and Taihe in Hechuan, with the Fuling River passing along the territory. The town has 10 rural administrative villages and 1 community neighborhood committee, with a total population of 31,000 and a land area of 68.2 square kilometers.
