Shuangjiang Town, Tongnan District, is one of the first ten famous historical towns in China (jointly selected by the Ministry of Construction and the Cultural Relics Bureau of China in 2003). The ancient town was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, more than 400 years ago. Shuangjiang Town is located 10 kilometers northwest of the county, which is the birthplace of Yang Shangkun, the fourth President of the People's Republic of China, and also one of the first batch of famous historical and cultural towns in China. The ancient town is named after Monkey Creek and Floating Creek, which are surrounded by a jade belt, and has been a military, commercial and trade center in the southwest region since ancient times. Shuangjiang Town has many brands such as National Famous Historical and Cultural Town, Chongqing Top Ten Fine Tourism Projects, Chongqing Red Tourism Line, and the hometown of President Yang Shangkun.
