Yunlin County is a county under the jurisdiction of Taiwan Province of the People's Republic of China. It is located in central Taiwan, in the Chia Nan Plain, between Changhua and Chiayi counties, bordered by Nantou County to the east and the Taiwan Strait to the west. It has a humid subtropical climate with an average annual temperature of 22.0°C and an annual precipitation of 1,500 millimeters.
As of 2010, Yunlin County has 1 city, 5 towns and 14 townships under its jurisdiction, with the county seat located in Douliu City. Except for Douliu, Gukeng and Linnei Townships, which are adjacent to mountainous areas, the rest of the county is mostly flat. The county covers an area of 1,290.8 square kilometers and has a population of 722,858 (2010), all of whom are Han Chinese. Famous monuments include Chaotian Palace, Yimin Temple, Zhenwenwen Temple, Hushanyan Temple and Gongfan Palace.
