It is part of Dujiangyan City, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, located in the northwest of Chengdu City and the south of Dujiangyan City, 40 kilometers from downtown Chengdu and 19 kilometers from downtown Dujiangyan, with an area of 49.75 square kilometers and a population of 41,999 (2017). On December 23, 2019, the People's Government of Sichuan Province on the approval of Chengdu City to adjust the administrative division of some townships in 15 counties (cities and districts), including Longquanyi District (Sichuanfu Civil Affairs 〔2019〕 No. 24): abolish Liujie Town, and assign its administrative area to the jurisdiction of Shiyang Town, with the People's Government of Shiyang Town stationed at No. 71, Group 9, Zhuhua Community.
