Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province, county-level cities under the jurisdiction of Chengdu City, is located in the northwest edge of the Chengdu Plain Minjiang River out of the mountain passes, east and Pengzhou City, PI District, Wenjiang District junction, west and north and Wenchuan County connected to the south adjacent to the city of Chongzhou; city terrain within the Northwest high, Southeast low, is the Sichuan Basin in the subtropical humid monsoon climate zone, with a total area of 1,208 square kilometers. As of May 2023, the city has 6 streets and 5 towns under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, the city had a resident population of 714,600.
Dujiangyan City, named after the water conservancy project Dujiangyan; abbreviated as "irrigation", is a national historical and cultural city, a city with a history of more than 2,000 years of founding due to the weir, due to the emergence of the water; in May 1988, the irrigation county county to set up a city and renamed as Dujiangyan City. In the Neolithic Age, it was the area where the ancestors of ancient Shu lived, and was one of the birthplaces of the ancient Shu Kingdom. Dujiangyan-Qingcheng Mountain was listed as a scenic spot in western Sichuan during the Republic of China.In July 2019, it was selected as a pilot county (district) for the National Intellectual Property Rights Project.In September, it was selected as one of the first national demonstration zones for whole-area tourism. Dujiangyan City sits on two world cultural, natural and irrigation engineering heritages, namely, Qingcheng Mountain-Dujiangyan and Giant Panda Habitat.
In 2022, Dujiangyan's GDP will be 48.366 billion yuan, an increase of 1% over the previous year.
