Shanhe Township, belonging to Lund County, Guyuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is located in the southeastern part of Lund County, neighboring Perfume Township and Xingsheng Township of Jingyuan County in the east across Liupan Mountain, bordering Tonghua Township of Zhuanglang County, Gansu Province in the south, adjoining Dian'an Township, Wenbao Township, and Fengling Township in the west, and bordering with Chenjin Township in the north, with an administrative area of 58.13 square kilometers. As of the end of 2020, the household population of Shanhe Township was 1,261.
In 1949, Shanhe Township was established in the northern part of the present township, and in 1984, Shanhe Township and Chong'an Township were reorganized; in October 2003, Chong'an Township was merged into Shanhe Township. As of October 2021, Shanhe Township has 4 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the township people's government is located in Shanhe Village.
