Abaga Banner, a flag under the jurisdiction of Xilingol League in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is located in the central part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the north-central part of Xilingol League, in the eastern part of the Inner Mongolia Plateau, with a mid-temperate arid and semi-arid continental climate, and adjoining four banners (cities) with a total area of 27,495 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Abaga Banner has jurisdiction over 3 towns, 4 soums, and 1 other township-level unit. As of the end of 2022, Abaga Banner had a household population of 42,500 people.
"Abaga" is a Mongolian language, meaning "uncle", because the original tribal leader Buhe Baili Gutai is the Yuan Taizu Genghis Khan half-brother and got its name. 1949 spring, Abaga right flag, Abahanal right flag merged into the western union flag, Abaga Left Banner, Abahanal Left Banner, and Haoqit Right Banner were merged into the Central Union Banner; in 1952, the Western and Central Union Banners were merged into the Western Union Banner, which came under the jurisdiction of Xilin Gol League; in 1956, the Western Union Banner was renamed Abaga Banner and was under the direct leadership of Xilin Gol League. The main attractions of Abaga Banner are Bili Gutai Zasan Tourist Scenic Spot, Chengji Si Baoge Du Mountain, Hulchagan Naoer, etc. On February 5, 2016, Abaga Banner was selected as the "2015 National Compulsory Education Development Fundamental Balanced Counties (Municipalities and Districts) List".
In 2022, Abaga Banner will realize a gross domestic product (GDP) of 4.829 billion yuan, an increase of 3.8% year-on-year; the ratio of value added of the first, second and third industries will be 27:39:34; general public budget revenue will be 430 million yuan, an increase of 44.9% year-on-year; fixed asset investment will increase by 73.1% year-on-year; per capita disposable income of urban residents will be 45,602 yuan, an increase of 4.1%; per capita disposable income of permanent residents in pastoral areas was 35,778 yuan, up 5.6% year-on-year.
