Wuhai City, also known as the Lion City, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, bordering Ordos to the northeast across the Gander Mountains, Shizuishan City to the south across the river, and Alxa League to the west, deep in the continent, with a typical temperate continental climate and a total area of 1,754 square kilometers. As of October 2022, the city has three municipal districts under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, the city had a resident population of 560,200 people. On January 10, 1976, Wuda City and Haibowan City merged to form Wuhai City. Wuhai City is known as the "Pearl of the Yellow River", surrounded by three mountains and flowing under one water, with a simple folk culture. Wuhai City is rich in resources, known as the "Sea of Wujin"; the city is rich in soil, water, light and heat resources, suitable for grape cultivation, known as the "hometown of grapes". It is also an emerging industrial city in the western part of Inner Mongolia, with obvious location advantages and convenient transportation, navigating to 17 cities in North China, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, which is an important hub from North China to Northwest China. The Yellow River passes through the city, known as the "Pearl of the Yellow River", 118 square kilometers of Wuhai Lake is connected with the Ulan Buh Desert, and there are national-level protected plants such as the Sihui Wood and historical relics such as the Table Mountain Petroglyphs and the Great Wall of Qin. In 2022, the gross regional product of Wuhai City will reach 80.332 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2% over the previous year.
