In 1950, it belonged to the second district. in June 1956, when the district was divided into townships, it was divided into 2 townships of Dahe and Tohe. in 1958, the 2 townships were merged into the Shuanghe Commune. in 1983, it was renamed as Wanheyong Commune. in January 1984, it was changed into Wanheyong Township. in 2001, Liulin Township was merged and changed into Wanheyong Township, and the township people's government site was moved to the former Liulin Township site of the old burner. in December 2005, Xinjing Township was merged. in June 2020, Wanheyong Township was merged. In June 2020, Wanheyong Township has 12 administrative villages under its jurisdiction. The town people's government is stationed in Dayingzi.
