Liaoning Province, abbreviated as "Liao", taking the Liao River Basin forever peaceful and get its name, is a provincial administrative region of the People's Republic of China, the capital city of Shenyang; located in the southern part of the Northeast China region, bordering on the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea in the south, bordering on Hebei Province in the southwest, adjoining on the north-west with the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, neighboring on the north-east with the Jilin Province, and bordering on North Korea in the south-east by the Yalu River. It is separated from North Korea by the Yalu River in the southeast; the terrain is roughly from north to south, tilting from the east and west to the center, with a temperate monsoon climate; as of 2022, the province governs 14 prefectural-level municipalities, with a total area of 148,600 square kilometers, and a resident population of 41,970,000 in the province.
According to the historical book "Yugong", Liaoning province was established in ancient society, Xia and Shang were the land of Youzhou and Yingzhou, and the Zhou was divided into the state of Yan. During the Spring and Autumn Period, the administrative division began to set up counties and prefectures. Yan State set up Liaodong and Liaosi counties, and Qin set up Liaodong, Liaosi, and Right Beiping counties. Gongsundu set up Pingzhou. During the pseudo-Manchukuo period, Liaoning was divided into three provinces, Fengtian, Jinzhou, and Andong, as well as Guandong Prefecture. After the founding of New China, Liaoning Province was the cradle of New China's industry, contributing "more than 1,000 national firsts" to New China, and was known as "the eldest son of the Republic" and "the boss of Liao". The history of Liaoning Province represents the culture of "Northeast China". Liaoning's infrastructure is perfect, the first in the country to realize the high speed of all land counties, has 6 ports, and has the most smooth and perfect network of airports in Northeast China. It also has six world cultural heritages, including the Great Wall at Jiumen Gate, the Wulushan Mountain Castle, the Imperial Palace in Shenyang, and the Zhaoling, Fuling and Yongling Tombs.
In 2023, Liaoning Province realized a regional GDP of 3,020.94 billion yuan, an increase of 5.3% over the previous year at comparable prices. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 265.10 billion yuan, an increase of 4.7%; the added value of the secondary industry was 117.345 billion yuan, an increase of 5.0%; and the added value of the tertiary industry was 158.239 billion yuan, an increase of 5.5%.
