Huludao City, formerly known as Jinxi, Liaoning Province, prefecture-level cities under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province, Liaoning coastal economic zone, Bohai wing port city, located in the southwest of northeastern China, the western coast of Liaoning Province, is a north temperate continental monsoon climate, by the mountains and the sea, the terrain from the northwest to the southeast gradually lower; east and Jinzhou City as a neighbor, the west and the Qinhuangdao Shanhaiguan District adjacent to the south of the Bohai Bay, north of the city of Chaoyang City border, a total area of 10,400 square kilometers. As of May 2023, the city has three districts, two counties, and one county-level city under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Huludao had a household population of 2.703 million.
On June 12, 1989, the State Council approved the upgrading of Jinxi City to a prefecture-level city. Huludao is an important gateway to Northeast China into the Guannai, known as "the first city outside the Guannai", and other cities along the Bohai Sea constitutes the Bohai Sea Economic Circle, the main sea transport Huludao Port and Suizhong Port, is the nearest sea port in Northeast China and eastern Inner Mongolia, the coastal waters are rich in seafood, the western mountainous areas are very rich in mineral resources, including molybdenum, Zinc, gold, limestone and other reserves. Huludao is rich in natural and humanistic landscapes, including the famous Ningyuan Ancient City, the Great Wall on the water at the Jiu-men's gate, and the Qin-Han ruins at Jieshi. Huludao is an excellent tourist city in China, a national forest city, a national garden city, and a resident organizer of events such as the China International Swimwear Culture Expo, which co-hosted the 12th National Games of the People's Republic of China.
In 2023, Huludao realized a GDP of 91.16 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.0%.
