Wafangdian City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province, administered by Dalian City, is located in the south of Liaoning Province, northwest of Dalian City, on the central-western side of the Liaodong Peninsula, in the warm-temperate continental monsoon climate zone, adjacent to three districts (cities), with a total area of 3,793.53 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Wafangdian has 11 streets, 13 towns, 6 townships, and 2 ethnic townships under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2020, Wafangdian City had a household population of 911,010 (excluding Changxingdao Street and Exchange Island Street, which are administered by Changxingdao Economic Zone). On February 18, 2021, Wafangdian City was selected as one of the "Advanced Counties of National Village Cleaning Action in 2020". on May 27, 2021, Wafangdian City was selected as one of the "First Batch of National Typical List of County Football". on December 29, 2022, Wafangdian City was selected as one of the "Four Good Rural Roads" in 2022. On December 29, 2022, Wafangdian City was selected as one of the 2022 "Four Good Rural Roads" National Demonstration Counties. In 2022, Wafangdian City will realize a GDP of 69.02 billion yuan, an increase of 3%.
