Wujiang District, under Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the southeastern part of Jiangsu Province, east of Shanghai Qingpu District, south of Jiaxing City and Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, west of Taihu Lake, north of Wuzhong District, Suzhou City, southeast of Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province, bordering the city of Kunshan in the northeast, southwest of the border with Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, with a total area of 1,176 square kilometers, of which the water area of 26,700 hectares, accounting for 22.70% of the city's total area ( All excluding the water surface of Taihu Lake under its jurisdiction). In 909 AD, Wujiang was founded as a county; in 1992, Wujiang was abolished as a county and established as a city; on September 1, 2012, Wujiang was abolished as a city and established as a district, Wujiang District, Suzhou. Wujiang is located in the water town of Jiangnan, with well-developed river and lake systems, crisscrossing rivers and lakes, and is known as "the land of fish and rice" and "the capital of silk".
